About

Hello, I’m Takako.

I’m a Japanese illustrator and printmaker based in London. I grew up in the countryside, where the changing seasons and surrounding nature made a lasting impression on how I see and use colour. I’ve been drawing since I could first hold a pencil, and visual storytelling has always been a way for me to express.

I studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins, and over time my practice shifted towards illustration. I build up images through layered processes and often work with Riso and letterpress. I’m interested in how traditional printmaking methods can be used within contemporary illustration to bring narratives to life.

My work often centres on everyday moments, domestic scenes, and quiet narratives. I work from the studio at London Centre for Book Arts, where I print on a cylinder proof press or carve lino blocks.
